Belgrade to Granada: budgeting a new life with a DNV

Valery moved from Belgrade in April, received a DNV, lives with his girlfriend and rents a Peugeot 308 for three years.

Valery is a real person. His income and spending are published with his consent; some everyday details have been condensed.

From Belgrade to Granada: making the move

Until spring, Valery and his girlfriend lived in Belgrade. Serbia was familiar and settled, so starting another document process, finding a home and changing countries was not an instant decision. They chose Spain for its climate, access to coast and mountains, and a legal route to continue remote work for a US startup.

The SpainPath team, represented by Vadim, guided their DNV process: clarifying Valery’s professional setup, structuring evidence of income and the startup relationship, reviewing his partner’s documents and preparing a joint application. Relocation support for two cost €1,390; sworn jurado translations were charged separately.

They deliberately chose Granada over Madrid and Barcelona: lower housing costs, a walkable city and fast access to Sierra Nevada and the coast. They moved in April 2026 and Valery registered as an autónomo after the DNV was approved.
